CLMMRH unveils P92-M emergency room upgrade

January 24, 2026

The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City, the apex hospital of the Department of Health (DOH) in Negros Island Region, unveiled its upgraded Emergency Department Friday afternoon ahead of the formal re-opening next week.

The completion of the almost PHP92-million renovation project, funded by the CLMMRH management itself, ends the three-month temporary closure of the emergency room (ER) that started end of September.

In a media forum, CLMMRH medical center chief Dr. Joan Cerrada said the public can expect better patient care in the renovated ER, which was previously in an inefficient state and not conducive for hospital personnel.

“They can expect better patient experience. That’s what we are trying to do,” she added.

The CLMMRH ER, which caters to 80 to 120 patients daily, currently has 65 beds and 29 stretchers.

Cerrada said they have hired more institutional workers and housekeeping staff to support the operations of the upgraded Emergency Department.

In a statement, the hospital management said the new ER is designed to improve patient flow, enhance efficiency in critical care response, and provide a safer, more dignified environment for both patients and healthcare workers.

“With upgraded facilities and improved systems, CLMMRH strengthens its role as a tertiary referral hospital capable of responding to the growing emergency healthcare needs of the region,” it added.* (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
