November 28, 2022

Two New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed after an encounter with the Philippine Army 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB) soldiers at Barangay Quintin Remo in Moises Padilla this morning.

Authorities are still in the process of identifying the two slain communist-terrorists.

The commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IBde), Brigadier Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte said the clash took place at around 7 o’clock in the morning.

The NPA unit is believed to be from the Central Negros Front 1 which is responsible for several atrocities in the town as well as the neighboring areas.

As of press time, Pasaporte has yet to say as to exactly how many rebels were involved in the clash, although by the time the rebels fled the encounter site, they left behind two of their fatalities.

It is also believed that several of the rebels may have also been wounded in the clash.

Recovered from the encounter site were two M16s, an AK-47, an M14 rifle, and an M203 grenade launcher.
As of press time pursuit operations are still ongoing.* (DGB)
