Army Battalion Says Donated Land, Facility Boost Peace Efforts

The 79th Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion extends its heartfelt gratitude to the City Government of Victorias for the donation of a two-hectare land along with an P8-million nulti-purpose building in Barangay Gawahon.
The site is envisioned to become the future home of an Army substation and Alternate Command Post to bolster the unit’s operations across Northern Negros, a 79th IB statement said.
The “partnership” was formalized through the signing of the Deed of Donation, followed by a groundbreaking ceremony graced by Major General Michael G. Samson, Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division; Lieutenant Colonel Eric B. Alfonso, Commanding Officer of 79IB; Senator Mark Villar; 3rd District Congressman Javier Miguel Benitez; Mayor Abelardo D. Bantug III; City Vice Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca; Gawahon Brgy. Captain Mary A. Pugna with other city and barangay officials and partner agencies.
“The donated property is expected to play a strategic role in enhancing the unit’s capacity for rapid response, territorial defense, and community-based peace and development initiatives,” it added.*
