More Than 100K Public School Students to Receive Bacolod Govt’s Free School Supplies
Mayor Greg Gasataya announced during Monday’s flag‑raising ceremony that the City Government will distribute complete sets of free school supplies to more than 100,000 learners enrolled in public schools under the Department of Education – Bacolod City Division.
Gasataya said the distribution will begin on June 8, 2026 to coincide with the opening of classes for the new academic year.

Covering all levels from Kindergarten up to Grade 12, the initiative ensures that all public school students are equipped with essential learning materials, as part of the city’s effort to ease the financial burden on parents amid rising living costs and to guarantee that no child is left unprepared for the school year.
The Mayor emphasized that providing these supplies is a core responsibility of the local government, intended not only to reduce household expenses but also to allow students to focus fully on their lessons without worrying about where to get their school requirements.
Tailored kits have been prepared according to each grade level’s specific needs: Kindergarten learners will receive four notebooks, three rolls of Grade 1 writing pads, one box of 12 No. 2 pencils, two sharpeners, and a customized backpack; students from Grades 1 to 3 get ten notebooks, four rolls of intermediate writing pads, one box of No. 2 pencils, two sharpeners, and a customized backpack; those in Grades 4 to 6 are provided with ten 80‑leaf notebooks, four rolls of intermediate writing pads, two boxes containing 24 black ballpens, two red ballpens, two No. 2 pencils, and a customized backpack; while learners from Grades 7 to 12 will each receive a durable sling bag and a complete set of official Physical Education uniform. The mayor noted that all items underwent strict procurement procedures and quality inspections to ensure durability and good value for public funds, with distribution to be carried out school‑by‑school in close coordination with school administrators and DepEd officials to ensure a smooth and inclusive rollout.
This program forms part of the city’s broader education support agenda, which also includes school infrastructure upgrades, feeding programs, and health services — all designed to create a better and more conducive learning environment for the youth of Bacolod.* (EYA via PNV)
