May 23, 2026

As the sun sets, Cadiznons flock to the Cadiz City Family Boulevard to sip coffee, enjoy street food, and relax in the cool sea breeze.

But beyond its scenic view and lively atmosphere, how do the people of Cadiz truly see and feel about the boulevard?

The Cadiz City Family Boulevard continues to gain growing recognition as one of the city’s most valued public spaces, serving as a venue for family bonding, recreation, tourism, and livelihood opportunities.

Residents recently shared their observations on how the boulevard has positively influenced the lives of many Cadiznons.

Dr. Janette Magalona, a professor and researcher, described the boulevard as an important place for families to reconnect and spend meaningful time together.

“I am so grateful to have this beautiful venue and an even more beautiful family to share it with,” Dr. Magalona said.

She added that simple moments spent with family while enjoying the sea breeze and scenic surroundings create lasting memories and strengthen relationships.

Meanwhile, Jerry Artuyo, a barangay kagawad, emphasized the importance of preserving the boulevard’s welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere.

“It is a good place for families to relax and enjoy, especially during nighttime,” Artuyo said.

Adding to the discussion, Barangay Secretary Aljon Ejano highlighted the boulevard’s contribution to local tourism and the economy of coastal communities in Cadiz City.

“Family Boulevard is important to the people of Cadiz City because it promotes local tourism in coastal areas, and it is also one of Cadiz’s iconic landmarks,” Ejano said.

He noted that beyond its scenic beauty and famous sunset view, the boulevard has become a source of livelihood for many residents.

“Family Boulevard also supports small businesses such as food stalls, street vendors, snack sellers, and, of course, tricycle drivers. For many Cadiznons, these are among their main sources of daily income,” he added.

The varying perspectives expressed by residents reflect a common appreciation for the boulevard as a symbol of community life, tourism, and family connection.* (Erwin R. Mabugat)
