TLJPH Highlights Celebration of Nat’l Family Planning Month
The Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City is celebrating National Family Planning Month this August with various activities and accessible and quality family planning services.
To highlight the provincial government-run hospital’s celebration, TLJPH conducts daily family planning activities dubbed USAPAN at the Out Patient Department (OPD) complex, obstetrics wards, and labor room, promoting responsible parenthood and reproductive health.
It also conducts Service Provision for Natural Family Planning Methods, Oral Contraceptive Pills, Injectables, Postpartum IUD, Interval IUD, Progestin Subdermal Implant Insertion and Removal, and Scheduled Surgical Sterilization (BTL-MINILAP & Vasectomy). Also, Education for Adolescent Health and Teenage Pregnancy.
These are spearheaded by Dr. Marc Franco H Leong, Lead Trainer, TLJPH-PHO Family Planning Training Center, MO III, Dept of OB-GYN, TLJPH; Ms. Ellen A. Dignadice, Health Education and Promotion Nurse, TLJPH; and Ms. Lilyn Apellido, NURSE V, TLJPH.
Among the key initiatives lined up for the month are:
• Daily Family Planning Activities such as USAPAN sessions conducted at the Out Patient Department (OPD), OB wards, and labor room. These sessions aim to educate and counsel clients on available family planning options.
• Comprehensive Service Provision covering a wide range of methods including:
Natural Family Planning (NFP)
Oral Contraceptive Pills (OCP)
Injectable Contraceptives
Postpartum and interval Intrauterine Device (IUD) Insertion
Progestin Subdermal Implant Insertion and Removal
• Scheduled Surgical Sterilization procedures such as Bilateral Tubal Ligation via Minilaparotomy (BTL-MINILAP) and Vasectomy
Health Education and counseling for Adolescents, with special emphasis on preventing teenage pregnancy and empowering young people to make informed decisions about their reproductive health.
• Strengthening of OPD Services, ensuring family planning clients receive accessible,respectful and quality care.
Family Planning Center at TLJPH, in partnership with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Negros Occidental, continues to trian healthcare providers in up-to-date family planning technologies and approaches.
Through these efforts, TLJPH reinforces its role as a key player in delivering reproductive health services in the province, aligned with the national government’s goals to promote family welfare, health equity and informed choice.
As the celebration continuous throughout August, TLJPH remains steadfast in its advocacy for reproductive health, adolescent wellness and community empowerment making it a cornerstone institution for family planning initiatives in Negros Occidental.* (W/ TLJPH)
