Cadiz mayor vows to work harder in his 2nd term
Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr. vowed to work harder for the people of the city as he was formally inaugurated for a second term Monday.
Escalante said that during the election, he got a total of 54,272 votes, the biggest number of votes in the city’s history.
Escalante also said that nine of the 10 city councilor-candidates aligned with him were also elected.
This shows Cadiznons’ trust in us and they are expecting a lot from us, he added.
“This will be a tall order for me, especially nga ang budget [sang syudad] na buhinan 15 percent,” Escalante said.
Escalante explained that the 15 percent deduction in the city’s budget amounts to around P220 million.
He said they currently do not know how to work out the issue, however, they vowed that they will make sure the city will survive.
“Taas ang confidence with this government, because according to [Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (NONECO)] from 2019 to present may mga 8,500 new permits nga gin issue sila,” Escalante said.
Escalante pointed out hat NONECO’s findings means that Cadiz is the only city in their area of operation that had a positive growth rate.
“That shows nga ang negosyo sang syudad is buhi and dira kita matutok,” the mayor explained.
Escalante said they will try to look for a way to work and assist the city’s business community by offering them incentives as long as they properly pay their taxes for them to compensate for the P220 million budget deduction.
The Cadiz mayor revealed that a new solar power company is also eyeing to establish itself in the city which would be another source of revenue for the city.
“Again with the blessing sang aton mahal na Diyos, anything is possible,” he added.
