Bus drivers tested negative from illegal drugs
To ensure safe travels this Holy Week season that begins on Palm Sunday, April 10, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Western Visayas (PDEA-VI), in cooperation with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), conducted today random drug tests among bus drivers as part of “Oplan: Harabas”.
Some 75 bus drivers from Vallacar Transit Incorporated (VTI) underwent drug testing. They all tested negative for illegal drug use.
PDEA-VI Director Atty. Alex Tablate said the operation aims to make sure that none of the public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers are using illegal drugs and to ensure the safety of travelers.
Tablate said they will also conduct drug tests on PUV drivers outside of Bacolod City.
The PDEA regional director thanked the cooperation and assistance of the other government agencies and the VTI management for successful implementation of the operation.
He further added the fight against illegal drugs not only falls as an obligation for law enforcement, but also to different sectors in society.* (DGB)
