Sen. Sotto is choice of Gov. Lacson
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said today that he is supporting the Vice Presidential bid of Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto.
This after the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) of which he is a member has announced the party will support Sotto who is the NPC chair.
“I explained to Senator Kiko Pangilinan that in an NPC meeting they really pushed for Senate President Tito Sotto being an NPC member. So I will also ask other NPC members especially those who attended the meeting. Senator Kiko and his wife megastar Sharon Cuneta understand the situation and she even said that Senator Sotto is like a father to her,” Lacson told reporters this morning.
“I’ll support Sotto because that is the push right now from the party and it has been a while, the last was in 1992 so now we will give it a try,” Lacson added.
Lacson, who is supporting Vice President Leni Robredo for President, said he is glad that he contibuted a little to the success of the People’s Rally of the VP in the province, Friday. “But then again it was really for Leni and his group,” he said
When asked if he will convince other mayors to join him in supporting Robredo, Lacson said, “We will see. I respect their stand especially to Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer and I don’t want to be the reason to break that commitment.”
Lacson was the one who introduced Robredo during the People’s Rally and has become a trend in social media.
When asked about his trending, the governor said, “You know my feet is on the ground and I know that this will die down soon. It also just tells me that as a cheerleader I did it well so that was my role that night.”*
