The Bureau of Fire Protection-Negros Island Region (BFP-NIR) under the servanthood of Acting Regional Director FSSupt. Gerry G. Berte, DSC announced the staging of a Grand National Roadshow dubbed “Fire Square Roadshow” on September 11, 2026, in commemoration of the 9/11 tragedy.

The grand roadshow will be an interactive, educational, and informative activity targeting elementary and high school students, with simultaneous venues in three strategic locations in the region.

According to FSSupt. Berte, the venues were carefully selected in schools and malls to ensure safety and comfort for children. The activity will feature 11 interactive stages offering hands-on learning experiences, including rappelling, simulation exercises, CPR demonstration, first aid training, and an interactive Snake and Ladder game where students learn while playing.

Other highlights include a smoke house, maze, survival tips in case of fire, and other life safety demonstrations aimed at promoting a culture of prevention and safety among the youth.

“It’s a total or full force of NIR. It requires a lot of resources. Ang venue ay safe and comfortable sa mga bata. Abangan niyo po ang grand show ng BFP-NIR,” the Acting Regional Director said.

He added that BFP-NIR will coordinate with the Philippine National Police for visibility and to ensure the safety and security of participating students.

In line with the directive, the activity shall serve as a platform to promote the proper use of the Unified 911 Emergency Hotline, showcase the emergency response capabilities of the BFP and its partner agencies, and strengthen public awareness on fire safety, disaster preparedness, and other life safety concerns.

The BFP encourages partner agencies, local government units, private organizations, community partners, and other relevant stakeholders to participate through the establishment of information booths, exhibits, demonstration areas, and other interactive activities.

Such participation highlights the collaborative nature of emergency response and reinforces the Unified 911 Hotline as the public’s single and accessible gateway to emergency assistance.

The BFP-NIR will announce the three specific venues in the coming days.*
