Prov’l Gov’t Boosts Cities’ & Towns’ DRRMOs/EOCs with Starlink Connectivity, Hytera Radio Communication Equipment
The Negros Occidental Provincial Government turned over Starlink Satellite Internet Connectivity and Hytera Base Radios equipment for the Disaster Risk Reduction Management / Emergency Operations Centers of towns and cities in the province on February 20.
The turnover rites were led by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz.
The project aims to strengthen the emergency communication capabilities of LGU DRRMs/EOCs by ensuring reliable and uninterrupted connectivity, particularly during disasters when conventional networks may fail, the Provincial Information Office said.
The recipient LGUs are the cities of Bago, Escalante, Himamaylan, Sagay, San Carlos, and Sipalay, and the municipalities of Binalbagan, Calatrava, D.S. Benedicto, E.B. Magalona, Hinoba-an, Ilog, Isabela, La Castellana, Manapla, Moises Padilla, Murcia, Pontevedra, and Toboso.
The LGU mayors and authorized representatives received the equipment as part of the First Quarter Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) meeting held at Negros Residences in Bacolod City.
The release of the equipment to other LGUs will proceed upon submission of the necessary documents, as facilitated by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Irene Bel Ploteña, the Capitol PIO added in a statement.* (Capitol PIO photos)
