Bago City gov’t boosts healthcare program for Bagonhons

The City Government of Bago, under the administration of Mayora Mayette Javellana, has achieved another milestone in its bid to provide better healthcare for every Bagonhon.
Mayora Mayette joined officials from the Department of Health – Negros Island Region Center for Health Development (DOH NIR CHD), led by Officer-in-Charge Assistant Regional Director Adrian Hort Ramos, in a ceremonial memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing held in Dumaguete City on Wednesday, October 28.
The agreement will pave the way for the rebuilding and upgrading of the Bago City Hospital through the Quick Response Fund.
Under the MOA, the DOH through the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) Fiscal Year 2025 CONAP Project has also appropriated P80 million intended for equipping of the Bago City Hospital to be implemented and procured by the City Government of Bago through transfer of funds.
According to the DOH NIR CHD, critical calamity repairs will fortify Bago City Hospital against future natural disasters. Alongside this, the Health Facilities Enhancement Program will drive the procurement of advanced medical equipment, ensuring that “healthcare heroes” have the modern tools needed to save lives, the agency said.
Aside from the MOA signing, Mayora Mayette also personally received the DOH License to Operate (LTO) for the Barangay Ma-ao Primary Care Facility.
“Together, we secured a safer, healthier tomorrow through this powerful dual milestone,” the DOH NIR CHD stated, adding that by “deploying strategic upgrades and bringing licensed medical resources directly to the grassroots, the DOH NIR CHD is breaking down the barriers of distance and vulnerability.”
Mayor Mayette, for her part, thanked the DOH for its constant help and support to the city government, expressing optimism that these developments will further strengthen the local healthcare system and directly benefit all Bagonhons.
“My heart is full of gratitude for all these blessings para sa Bago. Salamat gid, DOH,” she added.*
