Southern Negros broadcasters organize
Radio reporters, anchormen and commentators from various stations in southern Negros Occidental have organized themselves with the objective of fostering closer ties, camaraderie and unity in that part of the province.
They named their organization the Southern Negros Media Club (SNMC), during their initial meeting on August 23, 2020 at Golden Plate Pizza Restaurant in Kabankalan City.
Elected SNMC president was Jonathan “Jun” Gaton of Pasiplat Broadcasting.
Vice president for internal affairs is Bernard Reyes of Radyo Melinyo. VP for external affairs is Winston Villanueva of Radyo Bandera.
Secretary is Virginette N. Bardos of RM. Treasurer is Albert Bern Vincent Quingco of RM. Auditors are Ellen Grace Bondac of RM and Eddie Colimbo of PB. Business Managers are Rovic Mongcal of RB and Allen Linas of RM. PIOs are Jake Garlyne Tugbang of RM and Jes Mulle of RM.
Board of Directors: Eric Tenerife of Radyo Alagad, Nonoy de la Cruz of Radyo Natin, Ruben Lladoc of RM, Efren Posadas of Radyo Galicia, and Edgar Lucasan of DYRL and Radyo Binalbagan.
Gaton, who initiated the organization of SNMC, said there are now several radio stations in southern Negros Occ. which subsequently gave way to the growth in the number of broadcasters.
“This is now the time for us who are based in the south to organize ourselves so that we will be able to synergize our presence and be of help to the public and even to government undertakings that help uplift the lives of ordinary people. It is also high time to get organized so every media practitioner based here will have closer ties with his colleagues,” Gaton said.
He said the group, which will also advance the security and protection of its members, has advisers who are considered veterans in the media industry.
Gaton added that more media practitioners, including those from the print media in the area, are expected to attend the next meeting of the group, during which the date of the group’s induction will be finalized.*
