Team Bacolod Shines at Batang Pinoy 2025

Team Bacolod continues to bring pride to the City of Smiles as its young athletes deliver outstanding performances at the Batang Pinoy 2025 National Championships in General Santos City.
Partial and unofficial medal count for Team Bacolod stands at six gold, 10 silver, and three bronze medals, proving the city’s strong showing in various sport disciplines.
Leading the medal charge is Psalm Pampag, who captured two gold medals in the 200-meter run and 100-meter dash under the 16-under girls athletics category.
Geri Kiara Javier added another gold in rhythmic gymnastics (13–15 girls ribbon event), while Dondy Santillan Jr. secured the top podium finish in the cadet boys taekwondo bantam 37–41 kg division.
Adding another feather to Bacolod’s cap is Cedric Ortaliz, who topped the boys 14-under ASEAN blitz chess competition, further boosting the city’s gold medal count and proving Bacolod’s strength across both physical and mental sports.
Completing Bacolod’s gold lineup is Maxene Hayley Uy, who triumphed in the 50-meter freestyle event for 16–17 girls aquatics.
Uy also earned three silver medals in the 200-meter individual medley, 50-meter breaststroke, and 200-meter breaststroke. Other silver medalists include Anika Matiling (50-meter freestyle, 14–15 girls), Kane Benedict Laureano (shot put, 16–17 boys), Geri Kiara Javier (hoop and individual all-around rhythmic gymnastics), John Vincent Deliola (400-meter hurdles, under 18 boys athletics), and Renz Solomon (400-meter run, under 18 boys athletics).
In the bronze category, Savanna Saril, Samantha Arcigal, and Jessica Tinasas brought home a team bronze medal in the cadet girls Pomsae taekwondo (12–14 years old), while Psalm Pampag added another bronze in the 400-meter run (16-under girls athletics).
Team Bacolod’s relay quartet in Maxene Hayley Uy, Anika Matiling, Marta Rodriguez and Rihanna Montelibano took the bronze in 4x50m relay in 15-17 girls category.
Bacolod City officials and sports coordinators lauded the athletes for their commitment and excellence, emphasizing that their achievements reflect the city’s continuing investment in youth development and grassroots sports.

“Our young athletes are proving that Bacolodnons can rise with heart, passion, and pride,” said Atty. Rhett Demonteverde who heads Team Bacolod delegation. “Their victories bring honor not only to themselves but to the entire Bacolod community.”
Mayor Greg Gasataya also extended his congratulations to the entire delegation, expressing confidence that the team will continue to deliver strong performances in the remaining days of competition.
“Expect more medals and more in the upcoming days,” Demonteverde added.
