Calatrava resident surrenders firearm to 79IB MCSSP team
A resident of Brgy. Minautok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental voluntarily surrendered his pistol to the combined Army and PNP Mobile Community Sustainment Support Program (MCSSP) team deployed in the area Friday night, September 6, 2024.
The move was welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Arnel P. Calaoagan, Commanding Officer of the 79th Infantry (Masaligan) Battalion.
LTC Calaoagan commended the citizen’s action, saying that, “This voluntary surrender is a clear indication of the growing trust between the people of Brgy. Minautok and our MCSSP team. We appreciate this gesture as it contributes to the ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security in the community. We encourage others to follow this example, as every act of cooperation brings us closer to a safer and more peaceful Calatrava.”
The surrendered pistol was facilitated for documentation by brgy. officials and will be properly turned over to authorities for appropriate disposition.
The 79IB remains committed to fostering trust and cooperation with local communities in the pursuit of lasting peace, the army battalion said in a statement.*
