BCY eyes top title in Dinagyang nat’l duckpin tourney

The 2023 open champion BCY/NBAI of Bobby Yap campaigns for another titlle as the SEEBA Bowler’s Club, Inc. (SBCI)-Iloilo hosts this year’s Dinagyang National Invitational Mixed Trio Duckpin Bowling Tournament at St. Elizabeth Billiard & Bowling Alleys, along Valeria Street in Iloilo City from January 25 to 28.

Prizes at stake for the 3-day trio event includes: P65,000 – Champion; P40,000 – 1st runner-up; P20,000 – 2nd runner-up; and

In the singles event: (Mens) P5,000 – Champion; P3,000 – 1st runner-up; P1,000 – 2nd runner-up; (Ladies) P4,000 – Champion; P2,000 – 1st runner-up; P1,000 – 2nd runner-up. All top winners will be given a dinagyang-themed souvenir trophies.

The Bacolod contingent will be entering eleven teams where 3 will come from BCY/NBAI, 3 from KMH managed by Dr. Rockie Elegado, 2 from Tiger Eye of Jumelin dela Cruz, AMC group of Engr. Albert Ruiz, BMBC with sponsor Mr. Pat Mendoza, and the other squad will combine to an Iloilo-based duckpinner.

For SBCI President Jun Chavez, one of their club’s objective is to promote and grow the sport of bowling. “We want to be true to our club’s purpose which is to encourage the young generation to try bowling (duckpin or tenpin) hoping they will engage in sports rather than in illegal drugs,” Mr. Chavez emphasized.

As of press time, start of the trio games 1-3 are set this afternoon, Jan. 26 at 1:30 PM until 9:35 PM. Tomorrow, the singles games for the Ladies will commence at 9 AM until 10:55 AM then for the Men’s at 11:20 AM until 3:15 PM. Trio games 4 & 5 resumes at 3:30 PM until 9:15 PM.

Game 6 will be played on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 10 AM until 12:35 PM then Up-the-Ladder for Singles Event (Men’s & Ladies) at 2 PM until 3:45 PM followed by the Trio Team at 3:30 PM until 7:25 PM.
