Former Kabankalan mayor and NegOcc governor says ‘no plan yet to run in 2025’

August 17, 2023

Former Kabankalan City mayor and Negros Occidental governor Isidro “Pidio” Zayco today said that as of now he has no plan yet of running for any government post in the upcoming election.

Zayco, who was at the distribution of livestock and hog cholera vaccines in Brgy. Dancalan, Ilog, said he just wanted to talk to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson who led the distribution today.

“Let us see,” Zayco said.

During the turnover rites, Zayco told the crowd that if the people will push him to run again he will heed their call. However, he clarified that there was “nothing serious” about what he said.

“I just want the people to laugh. Only God knows, Zayco said.

Asked what he thinks of the current administration of incumbent Mayor Benjie Miranda, he refused to comment saying that “I don’t want them to gang up on my peaceful retirement.”

The former mayor was seen recently going around the barangays of Kabankalan, sparking rumors of his possible return to politics.

Zayco served as provincial board member, vice governor, and governor before returning to his city to serve three undefeated terms as mayor.* (EYA)
