What’s New With ‘Siete Pecados’ Off Iloilo & Guimaras?

October 7, 2026

How about the ‘Roca Encantada’

What is new at Siete Pecados off Iloilo and Guimaras provinces, and at the nearby Enchanted Rock?

When we were young we were told about the this “mysterious” and “enchanting” tourist attraction which is a cluster of seven rocky islets in the Iloilo Strait named “Siete Pecados” or the “Isles of the Seven Sisters”.

Passengers of seacrafts plying Iloilo, Dumangas and Bacolod, when passing near these islets serving as a natural landmark in the Iloilo Strait, are wondering what’s new in there these days.

Still visible in the largest islet among the seven stands the El Faro de Islote Siete Pecados, a historic Spanish-era lighthouse built in the late 19th century (around 1884–1897) to guide ships entering the bustling Port of Iloilo.

Local Visayan folklore says that the seven islets were formed after seven rebellious daughters disobeyed their mother, went out into the sea in a wooden boat, and drowned during a fierce storm. Their forms were permanently cast into these lonely rock formations as a lesson in obedience.

Siete Pecados is a marine and coastal ecotourism site, featuring vibrant coral gardens and rich marine biodiversity.

Are there plans to further develop the Siete Pecados to attract more tourists?

What about Roca Encantada (Enchanted Rock) nearby the islets which is a famous heritage house on the nearby coast of Guimaras?

Still worth visiting, yes, but these islets can be equipped with facilities to attract more visitors.* (APToga / NDB photos)
