60 Households in Far-flung Sitio Agogolo Now Energized

October 4, 2026

MOISES PADILLA — A total of 60 households in Sitio Agogolo, Barangay Macagahay, now have access to electricity following the official Energization Ceremony conducted by the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) on Thursday, October 1, at Agogolo Elementary School.

With a total project cost of ₱5.21 million, the Sitio Agogolo electrification stands as the largest project under NOCECO’s Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) in the 5th District of Negros Occidental.

5th District Representative Atty. Emilio Bernardino “Dino” Yulo III, Board Member Hadji Trojillo, Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo, Vice Mayor Felix Mathias Segundo “Pimpoy” Yulo III, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Punong Barangay Bernabe Eustania and barangay officials, alongside NOCECO Communications and Customer Service Manager Jocelyn Garcia, led the official switching-on ceremony.

In his message, Congressman Yulo commended NOCECO for its dedication in installing electric poles in the area, emphasizing the grueling physical work required given that Sitio Agogolo is classified as a Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area (GIDA).

Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo expressed her gratitude to NOCECO and Congressman Yulo for bringing electricity to the community and fulfilling the long-held dream of its residents. She also extended her appreciation to Vice Mayor Yulo and the Sangguniang Bayan for approving her request to waive the local government fees for the residents’ electrical installations.

Mayor Garcia-Yulo noted that the LGU originally submitted the request for Sitio Agogolo’s electrification to the Office of the Vice President in 2022. While the program was temporarily placed on hold, its recent resumption finally brought light to the community.

Under the leadership of Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo, the Local Government Unit of Moises Padilla continues to collaborate with national offices and utility partners to deliver basic utilities and vital infrastructure to every community in the municipality.* (CG)
