Fil-Sino 1st Queue Basketball Cup On The Way

The Fil-Sino Athletic Club held its 1st Queue Basketball Cup, sponsored by Joaquin Gochangco – Board of Director of the club and his wife, Mae Ann Ang – Managing Director of ALA Group of Companies.
The event was graced by the company’s Assistant Manager Edward Baniel and the officers and players of the club led by their President Mr. Jimmy Yap.
The participating teams: Cherry Tiggo REV, Cherry Tiggo Grandtour, Cherry Tiggo Cross HEV, Cherry Touring DCT, Cherry Touring CVT, Chevrolet Captiva EV, Chevrolet Groove, Chevrolet Spark EV, AMG Pawnshop, Hyundai Trucks & Bus and Petron Car Care Center. Five games were played in the ceremony to give accolade to the new sponsor.
The Cherry Groove and Chevrolet Sparks EV delivered a game for the ages, battling through three overtimes before Cherry Groove finally escaped with a 74–71 victory. Neither team was willing to give an inch from the opening tip. The Grooves carried a slim 26–24 lead into halftime, but the Sparks responded with a strong third quarter and entered the fourth with momentum on their side. The final period became a back-and-forth battle. With just seconds remaining, Jayson Yap missed his last free throw that forced the game to overtime at 52 all.
The first overtime featured more defensive intensity than scoring. Both teams traded baskets, but neither could create separation. The Sparks had a chance to win, but Lito Dumdum also missed his chance at the charity stripe, sending the game into a second overtime.
The second extra period was even more dramatic. Cherry Groove took a three-point lead. With just seconds remaining, Ryan Guanzon knocked down a clutch three-pointer to tie the game and force a third overtime.
Even though the Sparks fought back and never surrendered, Cherry Groove finally iced the game in the third extra time. Three overtimes.
Two exhausted teams. One unforgettable finish. Michael Posa led his team with 16 points and was named Player of the Game.* (Ghill Malimbag)
