HVI Arrested, PhP 680K Worth of Shabu Seized in Dumaguete Anti-Drug Operation

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), scored another significant accomplishment in its intensified campaign against illegal drugs following the arrest of a High-Value Individual and the confiscation of more or less 100 grams of suspected shabu with a Standard Drug Price of PhP 680,800.00 during a buy-bust operation in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

The successful operation was conducted by Dumaguete City Police Station, NOrPPO, at around 12:49 AM on June 1, 2026, in Purok Star Apple 1, Barangay Cadawinonan, Dumaguete, that resulted in the arrest of alias “Jun-Jun,” 50 years old, male, single, a resident of Purok Yellow Tops Zone 3, Brgy. Candau-ay, this city.

Dumaguete CPS operatives received information from a confidential agent that the suspect was allegedly engaged in illegal drug activities within the area. Acting on the report, personnel immediately conducted casing and surveillance operations to validate the information provided. With the assistance of the confidential agent, the arresting officer was able to establish contact and conduct a meet-up with the suspect to further confirm his illegal activities. A subsequent arrangement for a drug transaction was made, which led to the conduct of a buy-bust operation that ultimately resulted in the suspect’s arrest.

Recovered during the operation were:

1. One (1) pc. medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be Shabu (subject of sale);

2. Four (4) pcs medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be Shabu;

3. One (1) pc large knotted transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be Shabu;

4. One (1) pc. genuine one-thousand-peso paper bill placed on top of bogus money, served as buy-bust money; and

5. One (1) sling bag, with color combinations brown and black.

The arrested individual was subsequently brought to the Dumaguete City Police Station for booking and documentation, while appropriate charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing before the court.

This successful operation underscores PRO NIR’s sustained and intelligence-driven efforts to identify, target, and apprehend individuals engaged in the illegal drug trade.
