PhP 2.28-M Worth of Suspected Shabu Seized in San Carlos

The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region seized more suspected shabu, this time worth PhP 2,283,916 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Friday night.

A High-Value Individual named by the police as “Alias Ry”, 27 years old of Purok Lubi, Barangay 1, San Carlos yielded, in a 7:08 PM San Carlos City Police Station buy-bust operation at his residence, 335.87 grams of suspected shabu worth PhP 2,283,916 in his Alias Ry, single, is reportedly a junk shop and sari-sari store owner who used his store as a front for his drug trade.

A confidential informant led authorities to the suspect. With the assistance of the confidential informant, a transaction was facilitated, leading to the conduct of a buy-bust operation after the suspect handed one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for the buy-bust money.

Recovered during the operation were:
1. Eighteen (18) pieces heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance of suspected shabu including the buy-bust item;
2. One (1) piece pink bag; and
3. Nine Hundred Pesos (PhP 900.00) buy-bust money.

The arrested suspect was apprised of his Constitutional Rights and the provisions of the Anti-Torture Law in a language and dialect known to and fully understood by him. Two (2) Body-Worn Cameras (BWCs) were utilized throughout the operation to ensure transparency and proper documentation. The suspect is currently under the custody of San Carlos Police Station for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.

The substantial volume of suspected shabu recovered represents a significant disruption to the illegal drug supply and underscores the effectiveness of PRO NIR’s intelligence-driven and targeted law enforcement operations.
