PRO NIR Monitors Reported Encounter in Calatrava

The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) is currently monitoring and verifying a reported armed encounter allegedly involving personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion – Negros Island Region (RMFB-NIR) and suspected members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Sitio Kabalagnan, Barangay Lalong, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

Initial information received at around 4:25 PM today, June 14, 2026, through a report relayed by Barangay Chairman of Barangay Lalong, indicated that an encounter had allegedly transpired in the area. Acting on the report, concerned police units immediately initiated verification procedures through available sources and coordinating units to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

As of this time, the details of the reported encounter remain subject to validation. Authorities are continuously monitoring the situation and conducting coordination efforts to determine the circumstances of the reported incident.

Among the immediate actions undertaken were the prompt notification of the Provincial Tactical Operations Center (PTOC), coordination with adjacent police stations and Bravo Company of the 79th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, the placement of station personnel on standby for possible deployment, and the conduct of checkpoint operations and intensified intelligence monitoring in the area.

PRO NIR assures the public that updates will be provided as soon as verified information becomes available. The public is likewise encouraged to refrain from spreading unconfirmed reports and to rely only on official statements issued by legitimate authorities.
