La Castellana town mayor Mangilimutan, vice mayor Nicor convene DRRMC

Following increased activity of Kanlaon Volcano as reported by the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), La Castellana Mayor Alme Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan and Vice Mayor Alberto Nicor convened on July 6 the local Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRMMC).

The council activated its disaster preparedness and contingency plans in case Mt. Kanlaon erupts again. The town is located at the foot of the active volcano. The town is located at the foot of the active volcano.

The municipal government under the Nicor-Mangilimutan administration had been successful in evacuating residents in areas affected by recent phreatic eruptions, and is always prepared for any contingency despite the lack of other needed equipment and facilities including transportation units.* (APT/La Castellana DRRMO photos)
