P1.6M Worth of Seized Kush & Various Marijuana-infused Products Turned Over to PDEA

The Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark on August 5, 2020 handed over P1.6 million worth of seized Kush and various marijuana-infused products to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region III.

The strict profiling of consignees, importation documents and non-intrusive examination of shipments being implemented by BOC-Clark personnel led to the finding of Kush and various marijuana infused products in eight (8) shipments from USA, Canada, France, and Germany.

Out of the 8 shipments, 2 were suspected to contain Kush marijuana leaves which were declared as “2 Gift Shirts and 2 Baby Blankets”. This prompted the opening of the package which revealed 2 gift shirts used to cover eight 8 vacuum sealed packs of dried leaves and toppings while the 2 baby blankets covered 3 vacuum sealed packs of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.

The other 6 shipments contained various marijuana-infused products such as: 2 small boxes of CBD creams, 4 pcs. inhalers made with Hemp Cannabidoil, 1 CBD Vape Pen, 2 packs CBD Infused Gummies, 6 packs of Juicy Jay Hemp Wraps, 3 bottles Bergland Tee Baum, 3 bottles Japanissches Minz-Heilol, 15 pcs. Disposable CBD Cartridges and 23 boxes E-Liquid Pods.

The shipments were likewise subjected to K9 sniffing which indicated the presence of illegal drugs. Thereafter, PDEA chemical analysis was conducted and showed positive result for the presence of marijuana, affirming the suspicion of the Customs Examiners.

Warrants of Seizure and Detention (WSD) were issued by District Collector Ruby Alameda against the subject shipments for violation of R.A. No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) in relation to Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The Port of Clark will remain consistent to its mandate in protecting the borders against illegal drugs despite the risks of COVID-19.*
