February 25, 2023

Carbin Reef off the coast of Sagay City, Negros Occidental, continues to attract visitors despite the need to take about 20 minutes of pumpboat ride from the expanding port of Old Sagay.

The reef, one the landmarks of the thousands of hectares of Sagay Marine Reserve, is more than just a strip of sandbar.

Carbin Reef is ideal for daytime trip for family picnic, where boating, swimming, and snorkeling can be an enjoyable experience, with some of its flora and fauna visible through its clear, prestine water.

Frolicking on its sand, playing games like volleyball, badminton, frisbee, or merely sunbathing, strolling and climbing up the watch tower can be an ultimate fun at the reef. Cottages are available, each with iron grates for grilling, as well as tables and chairs.

Indeed, being there, surrounded by the sea, warmed by the sun, and touched by the cool breeze, is a refreshing experience. Every angle is Instagrammable and “FB-able’!

To get there, book with the Sagay City Tourism Office. Its friendly staff can also provide other details for a safe and enjoyable trip to Carbin Reef.* (Arman P. Toga)
