November 4, 2022

The provincial government of Negros Occidental is requesting for augmentation personnel from the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOCCPO) to help man the checkpoints at the sea ports particularly at the Banago Port in Bacolod City.

Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, said the police personnel will replace the personnel from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

He said that the provincial government is continuously intensifying its campaign against the entry of African Swine Fever (ASF) into the province.

Yesterday it was reported that three more towns in Iloilo province have suspected ASF cases.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Mayor Albee Benitez earlier issued Joint Executive No.1 creating the Joint African Swine Fever Task Force to prevent the entry into Bacolod City and Negros Occidental of live pigs, boar semen, pork and pork products from places affected with ASF.

Negros Occidental has a P6 billion swine industry.

The Task Force has already seized P448,125 worth of pork products in the different ports in the province and the province.* (EYA)
