12 LGUs join ABANSE NEGRENSE’s boxing at the park
ABANSE NEGRENSE’s Boxing at the Park continued its first semi-finals in Silay City on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 pm. The cities of Himamaylan and Escalante took the lead as the LGUs with the most wins. Both cities recorded two victories during the event.
Apart from Himamaylan City and Escalante City, other participating LGUs were Bago City, Sagay City, La Castellana City, Silay City, Murcia, Victorias City, Bacolod City, La Carlota City, Candoni, and EB Magalona. The categories were 13-under and 16-under, and the match was composed of 10 bouts.
Other LGUs that recorded victories were the cities of Bago, Silay, Sagay, Bacolod, La Carlota, and Victorias. Winners from the eliminations will advance to the second semi-finals in Silay City on Oct. 8, Saturday.
Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego and sports coordinator Mr. Marlon Parreño both attended the event, which was supervised by Provincial Boxing Sports Coordinator Coach Aden M. Nietes.
Meanwhile, ABANSE NEGRENSE’s Boxing at the Park is part of the initiative spearheaded by Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose V. Lacson and Provincial Sports Office Head Mr. Anthony Carlo Agustin in hopes to promote grassroots sports development and scouting potential players and athletes to represent the province in regional, national and international competitions.*
