Marapara Rotarians donate school supplies
Just like fuel and groceries, inflation is causing the cost of school supplies to skyrocket. To ease the burden for parents of students at the Batea Elementary School in E.B. Magalona, members of the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara recently donated school supplies to students from kinder through to grade six.
Each student received a package containing notebooks, pencils, crayons, paper plus personal items of a toothbrush, toothpaste, face towel and a glass.
“There is definite concern by many parents over the cost of educational necessities. We’re pleased our club has been able to help in a small way,” said Lani Ferrer, president of Marapara Rotary.
The club also donated seeds for Brgy Batea’s newly-opened vegetable garden. This will be maintained by local residents with the aim of providing vegetables to nearby families as well as selling some produce to provide the community with additional income.* (Robert Harland)
