Gov. Lacson lauds medical technologists
Gov. Bong Lacson acknowledged the dedication and courage of medical technologists, particularly as frontliners in the fight against COVID-19, during the 11th PAMET Visayas Conference hosted by the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. – Negros Occidental Chapter in Bacolod City, yesterday (July 15).
The conference was held at SMX Convention Center attended by PAMET National Vice President, Felicisimo Martinez, Regional Director for Visayas, Maruja Japzon, PAMET Negros Occ. Chapter President, April Joy dela Rama, and other PAMET officers and members.
Gov. Lacson said that medical technologists courageously exposed themselves to patients by being swabbers, and by performing the actual testing at the molecular laboratory, on top of enduring the heat of the PPEs they need to wear for long hours.
“Humanity has been aware of the importance of medical technology in the health sector, but the recent health crisis, more than ever, highlighted the significance of medical technologists,” he said.
The governor also acknowledged the six pioneer medical technologists who bravely volunteered to be trained in Iloilo to do the tests for Negros Occidental’s first provincial molecular laboratory at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, during the height of the pandemic.*
