Abanse Negrense IT & Business Scholarship inked

Negros Occ. Governor Bong Lacson signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Malayan Colleges Laguna, Inc., a Mapua School, for the Abanse Negrense IT and Business Scholarship, today.

Under the said scholarship program, Negrenses will be able to take up IT and Business Administration courses at Mapua School’s unit, Mapua Malayan Digital College (MMDC), which is a fully online college with a core focus on technology and business.

It is directed towards digital-first education in technology and business to make quality education accessible, affordable, and flexible, to pave way for in-demand employment.

The MOA Signing was held at MMDC Learning Hub at Ayala Malls Capitol Centrale in Bacolod City.

Present in the MOA signing were Malayan Colleges Laguna, Inc. President, Dr. Dodjie Maestrecampo, Executive Director, Engr. Dennis Tablante, Negros Occ. Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, and Negros Occ. Scholarship Program Division Head, Karen Dinsay, among others.

The scholarship is open for 100 incoming Negrense college students for SY 2022 – 2023.

Gov. Lacson said that the scholarship program is a big step towards the provincial government’s goal of making education accessible, particularly in the field of business and technology, to the less privileged but deserving Negrense students.

He thanked Malayan for opening its doors to Negrense students and for choosing Negros Occidental to be their first learning hub in the Visayas.

“We need professionals who can contribute to the agility and sustainability of Negros Occidental to transform into a center of excellence in Business and Information Technology,” said Dr. Maestrecampo.

“We at Mapua Malayan Digital College are honored to have this opportunity to support and innovate the education landscape in Negros Occidental.

Negrense students can be confident that they will be prepared for the future workplace,” he added.*
