Governor Lacson still mum on presidential choice

February 8, 2022

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is still silent on who he will support for president in the May 9 national elections.
Lacson said that right now “I am focused on my campaign.”

Asked if he will reveal his choice for president to the public, the governor said, “the people has an idea already who my choice will be.”

However, Lacson said he will “respect the choices of our public officials.”

He also admitted that he has a different choice for president to that of San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo.
Lacson hails from San Carlos City.

During the visit of the tandem of former senator Bingbong Marcos and Davao Citt Mayor Sara Duterte in Negros Occidental in December last year, Gustilo was seen with other local officials at the Bacolod- Silay Airport.

As to the choice of his party, the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), the party has not made any decision as of now, he added.

“I don’t know if the party will even make a choice but I guess by March there will be clarity as far as NPC if it will support a certain candidate or allow members to choose,” he pointed out.

He added that he is open to attend any activity of his presidential candidate if he is invited.

Lacson also said that “on the day of the election I will vote for the candidate who I can trust.”* (EYA)
