Negative RT-PCR test result still required for travelers to Negros Occidental and Bacolod City
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said that the requirement for travelers coming to the province from Alert Level 3 areas to present negative RT-PCR test result prior to travel is still on.
“I’d rather be safe and request RT-PCR which is being followed by other provinces,” Lacson said.
The governor made the reaction amid the request of fastcraft operators to implement a “no vaccination, no travel” policy instead of the negative RT-PCR test requirement.
The cities of Bacolod and Iloilo are also requiring negative COVID-19 swab test results for travelers to both cities.
Gov. Lacson said he has not received any request from fastcraft operators and the business sector on their proposed “no vax card, no travel” proposal.
Frank Carbon, Operator of Weesam Express said that he will make the request to the provincial and Bacolod City governments.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas earlier yesterday said he will grant such request if asked by fastcraft operators.
Fastcraft operations between Bacolod and Iloilo have been suspensed early this month after the cities of Bacolod and Iloilo were put under Alert Level 3.
Carbon proposed replacing the current negative RT-PCR test requirement with the “no vaccination, no travel” policy.
Carbon pointed out that since Iloilo and Bacolod, and the provinces of Iloilo and Negros Occidental are under Alert Level 3, there should be no travel restriction.*
