Cadiz Mayor Escalante says choice between BBM and Leni
Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. is yet to make a choice between presidential aspirants Vice President Leni Robredo and former Senator Bongbong Marcos.
Escalante said that after the presidential candidates of the ruling PDP Laban, Senators Ronald dela Rosa and Christopher Go withdrew their candidacies, he is left to choose between Vice President Robredo and former senator Marcos.
He admitted that many people in Cadiz are waiting for his decision.
Escalante added that his family is supporting Robredo.
“I respect their decision to choose who they want,” Escalante said.
When Robredo visited Negros, he said, “I was invited to meet her but I just recovered from COVID-19.”
If Marcos visits in February, ” I am willing to meet and talk to him, too. If I make my decision and the whole city will campaign for whoever I will choose, it should not be because I just saw them on Facebook,” Escalante said.
“It is unfair for the Cadiznons, if I make my decision half hazardly,” the mayor pointed out.
He added that his decision on whom to support for president “carries a lot of weight.”
Our local party, the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) has given us members a free hand who to support, he also said.
Escalante said that the MaraƱon clan in Sagay City will support Robredo “as she is their personal friend.”
As for Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante, he is undecided as a member of PDP-Laban.
Escalante said that the disqualification case against Marcos is “serious.”
“I will wait for the decision of the Commission on Election on the disqualification case,” he added.* (EYA)
