December 23, 2021

Mayor Raymund Tongson (MRT) of Himamaylan said the city government continues to provide assistance to residents whose houses were ravaged by Typhoon Odette.

In the same media interview yesterday, Tongson, when asked, stressed that he is solid for the presidential bid of BBM (former Senator Bongbong Marcos) and for the vice presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

He said more than half of the houses in the city were either destroyed or damaged by Typhoon Odette.

Tongson said he is thankful that national and provincial officials, as well as private individuals and groups continue to bring assistance to Himamaylanons.

He said that when Vice President Leni Robredo brought aid to Himamaylan Tuesday, he was present since the former is the second highest official of the country.

Tongson said Robredo is the incumbent Vice President and that courtesy must be afforded, adding that it was her official function and she was bringing help to Himamaylanons who are in crisis. He stressed that there was nothing political, and during calamities politics is set aside.

“I am for BBM for president and Inday Sara for vice president in next year’s election,” Mayor Tongson added.

Tongson was designated as Team BBM 2022 Region 6 Chairman and the only incumbent mayor in Negros who is a Partido Federal ng Pilipinas member and partymate of BBM.

The mayor on Dec. 20 personally welcomed BBM and Inday Sara Duterte who turned over food packs for typhoon victims in Negros Occidental.*
