Volunteer lifesaver & disaster response trainor challenges 3rd district congressman in 2022 polls
A Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) volunteer filed his Certificate of Candidacy (CoC), challenging reelectionist 3rd District Congressman Francisco “Kiko” Benitez.
Bernard Ferraris of Victorias City is running under the Reform PH- People’s Party.
Ferraris was among the last to file CoC for congressman in the 3rd district, Friday, barely beating the 5 p.m. deadline.
He is the lone challenger of incumbent Congressman Benitez, brother of Provincial Consultant and former 3rd District Congressman and currently candidate for Bacolod Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez.
The incumbent 3rd district solon filed his COC for his re-election on October 4 and is running under the PDP-Laban Cusi wing.
Ferraris is a graduate of Agriculture major in Animal Husbandry and conducts trainings on disaster response in the towns and cities in the province.
Kiko Benitez, on the other hand earned his MA and PhD in comparative literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and run the family-owned Philipine Women’s University.
Ferraris is running together with Paul Octaviano and Vice Mayor Gabriel Timbol and four councilors under the Reform Party-People’s Party.* (Contributed by Dolly Yasa)
