26 Covid-19 deaths in Negros Occidental in a day; 104 in 15 days
Deaths caused by the highly infectious coronavirus claimed the life of 26 Negrenses yesterday, September 15, 2021, data from the Negros Occidental Provincial Incident Management Team showed.
The PIMT reported that yesterday the province hit a record high of 26 COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total to 104 in the first 15 days of September.
“You really have to protect yourselves, this is not a joke,” Lacson appealed to Negrenses.
In Bacolod City, there were 37 COVID-19 deaths in the first half of September or an average of three deaths per day, data from the Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center showed.
The Department of Health (DOH) regional office showed that Bacolod had 96 new COVID-19 cases for a total of 1,508 active cases and seven new deaths as of September 16.
Lacson, citing the daily triple-digit new COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental, said the numbers will even go higher and will be breaking records soon.
The governor believes the cause of the surge is the Delta variant of COVID-19.
To meet the rising number of cases, the provincial government has designated the Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City into a COVID-19 Center and the Cadiz District Hospital.
What is happening in Metro Manila is also happening here where even private hospitals that are already at full capacity, Lacson pointed out.
Let us get vaccinated against COVID-19 to ensure Negrenses that they are protected, he added.*
