Sagay City snorkeling guides receive 30 sets of gears
Thirty sets of snorkeling gears that included masks, fins and vests were distributed to the Buhay Dagat Snorkeling Guides of Sagay Association.
The turnover was made during the Memorandum of Agreement Signing and Turn-over Ceremony at Balay Kauswagan in Sagay City in norrherb Negros Occidental, part of the Biodiversity Friendly Enterprise (BDFE) activity that is also part of the seven components of the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Management Program (CMEMP) which was spearheaded by Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Edgardo M. Rostata and the Communuty ENRO Cadiz.
Cora Gonzales, Chief-Planning Section of CENRO Cadiz discussed the rationale of the activity, and PENRO Rostata in his message, lauded the conservation and protection efforts of the different associations in Sagay.
City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III gave his message, stressing on instilling the importance of taking utmost care of the environment for survival.
Local Tourism Officer Helen Javier Arguelles, on her part expressed gratitude for the support extended by DENR to beneficiaries.
The MOA signing also highlighted the need to effectively manage the coastal and marine ecosystems of Sagay Marine Reserve (SMR) which is considered to be one of the general objectives of the CMEMP.* (MTR, PENRO)
