RETICULATED PYTHON IN CADIZ

On August 9, 2021, Brgy. Captain Lucien Olvido of Brgy. Daga, Cadiz City (wearing white/pink t-shirt) turned-over one Reticulated Python (Malayopythonreticulatus) to DENR-CENRO, Cadiz City.

The wildlife was found inside Lindy’s Grocery store in Brgy. Daga, Cadiz and was immediately rescued by one of the residents.
OIC, CENR Officer Mamad T. Gandarosa, EMS I Nelsa Salimbot, and FT I Abgie Michael Lunaba facilitated the turn-over of the Reticulated python. The python was temporarily placed in the custody of DENR-CENRO, Cadiz for safekeeping and check-up.

Under Department Administrative Order (DAO) 2019-09, “Updated National List of Threatened Philippine Fauna and their Categories”, the Reticulated Python is classified as other threatened species which is under threat from adverse factors such as over collection throughout its range and is likely to be move to the vulnerable category in the near future.* (DENR PENRO-CENRO CADIZ photo)
