The Action Will Speak For Itself

The Covid-19 pandemic brought an unforeseen crisis to the country. Most businesses lost income due to temporary closure. This has worried most Filipinos who rely on their respective jobs to feed their families. This has brought a challenge for employers to look after the welfare of their employees amidst the crisis.

Unsurprisingly, the President/Owner of the Ledesma Group of Companies, Mr. Julio “Jules” A. Ledesma IV, is a man of vision and philanthropy. Mr. Ledesma knows exactly his priorities in times like this and he has been helping the organization and the LHACFBMPC and GHFMPC farmworker beneficiaries on a personal capacity.

At the onset of Covid-19 pandemic in our country, even prior to the declaration of ECQ by the Province of Negros Occidental, Mr. Ledesma has already announced that he was granting financial assistance to the Ledesma Group of Companies employees and coop beneficiaries. The first tranche of financial assistance was given last March 28. The second tranche and third tranche were distributed on April 17 and April 30, respectively, and Mr. Ledesma will sustain the grant of financial assistance until the situation will normalize. He never gave a second thought in sustaining the salaries of his employees during ECQ period. The employees and beneficiaries are beyond grateful for the generosity of Mr. Ledesma.

His visions has benefited the City of San Carlos in this time of crisis. In 2016, Mr. Ledesma has set aside personal funds to be utilized by the City Government for immediate response for events/occurences. Mr. Ledesma denominated this fund as the Primary Response — Essential Programs for San Carllos (P.R.E.P. For SC). The fund was first used to purchase a firetruck in February 2019 which was donated to the San Carlos City Filipino-Chinese Volunteer Firefighters Inc. At this time, the firetruck is currently being used for fire disaster response at the same time for disinfection of public places. The PREP FUND was also utilized to purchase Covid-19 Rapid Testing kits even before the cry of the netizens for mass testing. The test kits were used for the early testing of PUIs in the 1st District of Negfos Occidental.

Together with Cong. Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr., Mr. Ledesma also expedited the production and purchase of washable face masks, 70% Ethyl Alcohol and relief food packs for the indigents of the 1st District of Negros Occidental who were not eligible under the DSWD per household policy on distribution of relief assistance.

Mr. Ledesma has always emphasized in his company speeches that his success will trickle down to benefit his staff and employees. He crafted the Ledesma Trust which is similar to giving pledge, whereby his workers will be enfranchised and will have a gain share in his organization. Included in the Ledesma Trust is the assurance that his employees and staff will soon receive Manila based salary rates and also a commitment to deed 850 brand new house and lot to his employees as well as farmworkers beneficiaries.

The philanthropic works of Mr. Ledesma is reminiscent of the wisdom of the great Confucius which states that “A man of humanity is one who, in seeking to establish himself, finds a foothold for others and who, in desiring attaining himself, helps others to attain.”*
