Montilla District Hospital Launched Healthy Workplace Program to Promote Employee Well-Being and a Healthier Community

SIPALAY CITY, NegrosOcc – Merceditas J. Montilla District Hospital (MJMDH) officially launched its Healthy Workplace Program, reaffirming its commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and supportive work environment for all employees while advancing the goals of the Department of Health’s Healthy Workplace Initiative.
The program launch gathered hospital staff, partners, and representatives from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) to celebrate the beginning of a comprehensive workplace wellness program that promotes physical activity, proper nutrition, mental well-being, environmental sustainability, and occupational safety.
The event was graced by the OIC/Chief of Hospital, Dr. Nheva Gene Capariṅo, highlighting the importance of employee health as a foundation for quality healthcare service delivery. Message of support from the Provincial Health Education and Promotion Officer, Ms. Jaya Sheelah L. Eres, RN, MN, underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in building healthier workplaces.

A program overview was presented by the PHU/HEPO, followed by the introduction of Healthy Workplace Committee members and a Pledge of Commitment, demonstrating the dedication of hospital personnel to fostering a culture of health and wellness.
A major highlight of the event was the launching of the Wellness Room and Green Spaces, providing employees with areas for relaxation, stress management, physical fitness, and mental wellness. These initiatives reflect MJMDH’s commitment to creating a workplace that supports both productivity and employee well-being.
To strengthen healthy lifestyle practices among employees, participants attended a Nutrition Lecture and participated in the Pinggang Pinoy Panalo activity, promoting balanced and nutritious food choices.
In the afternoon session, a Fitness Lecture inspired employees to adopt active lifestyles and regular physical activity. The hospital also launched the MJMDH Biggest Loser Challenge, an initiative designed to encourage healthy weight management, regular exercise, and positive lifestyle changes among staff.
Through the Sayaw Galaw Para sa Healthy Pilipinas Zumba Dance Contest, MJMDH reaffirmed its commitment to creating a healthy workplace where wellness, physical fitness, and employee well-being are valued and celebrated. The activity successfully demonstrated that promoting health can be both meaningful and enjoyable, inspiring participants to continue living active and healthy lives beyond the event.
The celebration concluded with the lively Healthy Pilipinas Community Dance, reinforcing the message that physical activity can be enjoyable and accessible for everyone.
Through the Healthy Workplace Program, MJMDH aims to cultivate a work environment where employees are empowered to make healthy choices, maintain work-life balance, and contribute to a healthier hospital and community.
