PRO NIR Sustains Momentum vs. Illegal Drugs, Seizes PhP136K Shabu in Talisay

The intensified anti-illegal drug campaign of the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region continues to gain ground following a successful buy-bust operation conducted by the Talisay Component City Police Station, Ngeros Occ. Provincial Police Office at Purok Diwal, Barangay Zone 5, Talisay City, on February 16, 2026.

The operation resulted in the arrest of a drug personality and the seizure of about 20 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PhP136,000, preventing the further circulation of illegal drugs in the community.

The suspect was identified as alias “Vic”, a Street Level Indivudual, 29 years old, male, single, jobless, and a resident of Purok Rosas, Barangay Zone 6, Talisay, Negros Occidental.

Talisay CCPS intel operatives received a report from an informant that the subject was actively engaged in the sale illegal drugs in the area. Acting on the report, casing, surveillance, and test buy operations were conducted to validate the information and in preparation for possible law enforcement action. It was revealed that the suspect has been previously arrested for violation of RA 9165. Through the assitance of a confidential agent, a transaction was managed with the suspect.

The buy-bust operation was carried out after he handed over one piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu” to the police poseur-buyer in exchange for buy-bust money.

Recovered during the operation were the following a piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu” (buy-bust item); three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu” (possession items); a plastic canister; and Php500 bill used as buy-bust money.

The suspect was informed of his Constitutional Rights and Anti-torture law in a language he fully understood. All seized items were properly inventoried and documented on-site utilizing 2 Body Worn Cameras. The confiscated drug evidence were submitted to Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while the suspect is currently in the custody of Talisay CCPS, NOcPPO for proper legal disposition.
