A Real Holiday Season Gift That Goes A Long Way
Some gifts come wrapped in ribbons.

Others come wrapped in gratitude, dignity, and long-overdue recognition.
What was meant to be a simple workday turned into an unforgettable Christmas surprise for several longtime Job Order workers of the Bacolod City Government—men who have quietly served the city for decades, never asking for applause, only the chance to keep working.
During a surprise courtesy call requested by Mayor Greg Gasataya, joined by Councilor Homer Bais and Councilor Thaddy Sayson, the good news was finally delivered: they are now regular employees of the City of Bacolod.
Among them is Ronnie Cordova of the City Engineer’s Office – Special Services Division, who has spent 34 years repairing and replacing artesian well pumps across barangays—often in the field, often unnoticed, always dependable. What he thought might be a mistake turned out to be a moment his family will remember forever.
Also newly regularized is Andrew Bisquerra of the City Engineer’s Office – Public Works Division, who described the news as a meaningful Christmas gift not just for himself, but for his loved ones.
Earlier, three other silent pillars of public service were likewise recognized during the flag-raising ceremony at the BCGC:
Ritchie Opao (42 years of service), Vicente Candar (35 years), and Cesar Zuniega Jr. (32 years).
Mayor G made it clear: when positions open, long-serving and well-performing Job Orders are prioritized—because loyalty, consistency, and honest work matter.
This is not just about regularization.
This is about respecting service, restoring dignity, and reminding everyone that in Bacolod, good work is seen—and eventually, it is rewarded.
For these men and their families, Christmas 2025 came early. And it came with hope that lasts far beyond the season.* (Bacolod Better Together SMP)
