SM City Bacolod Lights Up the Season with ‘Unwrapping Sweet Surprises’

The Christmas season officially began in the City of Smiles as SM City Bacolod unveiled its 50-foot pastel Christmas tree on October 26, signaling the start of holiday festivities across the Visayas.

Negros Occidental Governor Bong Lacson and SM City Bacolod mall manager Julia Javellana led the ceremonial lighting at the North Wing Main Atrium, marking the city’s first grand Christmas launch of the year. The pastel-hued centerpiece, wrapped in gold ribbons and crowned with a radiant star, stood over a whimsical Christmas village complete with giant cupcakes, glowing macarons, and playful nutcracker guards.

Gov. Lacson lauded the mall for “bringing light and cheer to Negrenses,” while Javellana described the installation as “a place where magic and sweetness meet, where every detail reflects the spirit of joy and togetherness that makes Christmas special.”

The celebration featured live music from the CPAC Symphonic Orchestra, ballet performances from the Garcia-Sanchez School of Dance, and appearances by Santa in gold, the pastel-clad holiday characters Lady Madeline and Lady Éclair, and the SM Holi Squad mascots.

As a special feature of the installation, a cluster of dessert shops surrounds the grand Christmas tree, creating a delightfully whimsical experience for every visitor. Enjoy comforting coffee and cakes from White Box by Yoki, or indulge in irresistible tiramisu cuts and ice box cakes from Fruitvibes—sweet surprises that make the holidays even more memorable.

Shoppers can look forward to a series of holiday attractions, from the weekend Santa Meet & Greets and choral performances to SM Cares’ “Besties of Joy” campaign, where each bunny plushie purchased donates its pair to a child in need.
