Mayor Gasataya to give transpo allowance to BCC grad job seekers
Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya pledged to give P3,000 transportation allowance to more than 30 graduates of Bacolod City College who were among the attendees of the “Near Hire Job Coaching Workshop” held at the lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center, Monday.
During his speech, Gasataya asked the participants about the difficulties they go through in applying for a job, during which financial support emerged on top, among other concerns.
Gasataya urged the participants not to lose hope and instead, strive to improve themselves for better chances of being hired.
He also wants to have a program for other attendees who need upskilling or enhancent so that they will be job-ready.
Bacolod Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) Chief Jovelyn Canoy said those who attended this activity will be given priority during the Masskara Job Fair scheduled October 5 at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central, 9am-5pm, as part of the month-long Masskara Festival celebration.
Close to 100 participants joined the workshop mostly graduating students of the Bacolod City College, she noted.
She said 11,000 jobs will be offered to applicants from the different sectors such as the senior high school graduates, college graduates, undergraduates, skilled workers and others.
The activity is open to all applicants, she added.* (Lorenzo Lambatin, Jr. / NDB)
