September 21, 2025

Carlos Hilado Memorial State University provided warm meals to 256 families, totaling 991 individuals, who are currently staying at Apolinario Mabini Elementary School in Bacolod City after surviving a midnight fire on September 12, 2025.

On September 18, 2025, CHMSU students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners prepared warm chicken and pork adobo, along with pork sotanghon soup, fruits and banana muffins, to culminate the five-day “CHMSUyanihan: Pagtabang sa Nasunugan” donation drive held across the Alijis, Binalbagan, Fortune Towne, and Talisay campuses.

The campaign, which ran from September 12 to 17, raised a total of Php 37,469.55 in cash donations through GCash, the CHMSUyanihan booth, a room-to-room campaign across all four campuses, and contributions from generous donors who reached out to the organizers.

The CHMSUyanihan team also distributed essential items such as new undergarments, body soap, hygiene products, detergents, housewares, and cleaning supplies.

Children who are also staying at AMES enjoyed fun and games hosted by the students of CHMSU.

The campaign was organized by the Center for Internationalization and External Relations and the Federation of CHMSU University Student Government, in partnership with Art Relief Mobile Kitchen, Ang Paglaun Multipurpose Cooperative, and Caritas Bacolod Social Action Foundation, Inc.

“CHMSUyanihan: Pagtabang sa Nasunugan” culmination at AMES was conducted in coordination with the Bacolod City Department of Social Services and Development.* (KB/CMSU)
