BTCS Football Teams Secure Podium Finishes at IFL Cup Thailand

Bacolod Trinity Christian School (BTCS) football teams made their mark on the international stage, showcasing an impressive performance at the Season 2 International Football League 7s Youth Edition 2025, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 28 and 29.
The TCS U-12 team fought hard and showed true grit, finishing as 3rd Runner-Up under Gold Cup Edition following a narrow penalty shootout defeat to GZPORTS. They were also honored with the Conduct Award for their outstanding sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Meanwhile, BTCS U-14 team showcased exceptional skill and determination, battled their way to 1st Runner-Up under the Premiere Cup edition after a closely contested final decided by a penalty shootout against champions Wat Bang Kra.
Dwayne Tabio, U14 team captain, said, “I’ve learned that our opponents are more advanced and skillful compared to us, but as a team captain, I motivated and guided them. As a team, we strive hard. Overall, we stuck to our styles and we just listened to our coach.”.
Though they fail to get the champion cup, the team remains thankful to have secured the 1st runner-up title.“ I am grateful because mostly, some Philippine teams would not be able to get that high reward or title in every (international) tournament, but we are thankful that we have reached this far,” Tabio added.
More than just a competition, the tournament became meaningful to the players. They discover new cultures and gain friends among fellow athletes. Sean Samuel Obedoza, U14 Center Midfielder, scored 4 goals and 3 assists, shares, “ I have learned that they are kind, they are supportive, and sometimes give advice and teach us where we have fallen short.”
The Bacolod Trinity Christian School Football Team heads home not just with trophies and medals but with a deeper passion and love for the sport.
JI Seva, BTCS Football Team head coach, expressed, “I am thankful for the parents of these players and also grateful for the school board, who have never failed to support our athletes. Football teams or clubs in Negros are capable of competing on the international stage if given full support from the football community and the local government. That is why we sincerely thank former Mayor and now Congressman Albee Benitez for his generosity. “
With support from the City Mayor’s Office, Arising Builders, Kit’s Store, Downtown Hardware, Sketchy Horse, KJ Fairmart, Anonymous Sponsors, Gardenville United Football Club, Inc., Negros Occidental Regional Association, the team delegation was headed by Head Coach JI Seva and Assistant Coaches: Coach Randolph Perez, Coach Rachelle Semillano, Coach Duane Dadivas, Coach Florence Panongaling, Coach Gerard Suelan, Coach Marjune Badoy, and Mrs. Aubrey Arela, Team Manager.
