To further maintain the peace and order in EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, the Sy-led National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has donated one unit pick-up vehicle to the town’s police office on July 17.

The said vehicle will be used as patrol car for daily police operations to ensure that safety and order will always prevail in town.

EB Magalona Mayor Matthew Louis “Matt” Malacon said that peace drive tops among his agenda in his 100 days in office, and even beyond.

“I want to maintain peace and order in our town to really ensure the safety of my kasimanwas and all businesses currently thriving in town,” Malacon said.

The new police car, he said, is a big boost to maintai a zero-crime advocacy across the 23 villages in the municipality.

He also believes that, in order to sustain EB Magalona’s economic growth as a first class municipality, he needs to empower the town’s police force.

“In that way, we can help them addressing all police concerns vital to sustain a relatively peaceful community, a key in enticing more investors to come to EB Magalona,” the new mayor stressed.

He, therefore, thanked NGCP for the support to their continued peace drive.

“We are just giving back,” said Michelle Visera, NGCP-Negros’ public relations officer.

Vicera said NGCP is grateful to local government of EB Magalona for hosting their 22-kilometer submarine cable going to Barotac Viejo in Iloilo.

The 230-kV (kilovolt) submarine cable, composed of three 1,600 mm2 XLPE conductors, is part of the Cebu-Negros-Panay Interconnection Project inaugurated by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr in April last year.

Such a submarine cable plays a vital role in empowering both Negros and Panay islands.

EB Magalona also hosts scores of NGCP’s transmission towers, serving as “highway for electricity” in the entire Negros Occidental.
These transmission towers also play a crucial role in the delivery of electricity in the province, Visera said.

“With our great partnership with NGCP, EB Magalona also play an essential part in entire power industry in the Visayas,” Malacon said. “And we are very proud of this enormous and noblest role in energizing Negrense households and businesses.”

Meanwhile, Colonel Rainerio de Chavez, director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), also thanked NGCP of the car donation for EB Magalon, saying, “It’s a boon to crime prevention, thus, hailable,” he said.*
