PBBM to visit Kanlaon-affected evacuees
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to visit internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by the restive Kanlaon Volcano in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental today, Friday, Feb. 21.
Particularly, the President will visit the La Carlota City South Elementary School-II evacuation center, where 100 families or 385 individuals are currently taking shelter due the prevailing threat of the volcano.
Marcos intends to personally check the situation of the IDPs (evacuees), talk with them to identify their other needs and concerns for immediate action of concerned government offices and agencies.
He is also expected to lead the distribution of 646 family food packs (FFPs) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to the 323 internally displaced families, or 1,111 individuals, in La Carlota.
Data from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) of La Carlota as of Feb 20 show that four evacuation camps remain in the La Carlota City Evacuation Center, La Carlota City South Elementary School II, La Carlota City North Elementary School, and La Carlota City College-Cubay Campus.
