All set for NBA ‘Legends Cup’ this Saturday

The AcroCity-backed Negros Basketball Association (NBA) Invitational Basketball Tournament “Legends Cup” is set to gather some of the best players in Bacolod City and Negros Island who made a name in the amateur and professional leagues at the Po Hang Gymnasium of Tay Tung High School in this city on Saturday, February 22, 10AM.

According to reports, some of the featured prominent basketball players from this province include Noli & Jun Locsin, Bong Ravena, Vernie & Vic Villarias, Mike Mustre, Freche Ang, Django Rivera, Ruel Bravo, and Ricky Magallanes. Kenneth Duremdes, who is from Koronadal City in South Cotabato has also been invited to add star power to the event.

Local hardcourt heroes who will be on the ready are Sarian Ordas, Rex Bayer, Nene Paderog, Macoy Pineda, Godoy Cepriano, Jholner Laborte, Jun Tumamot, Bert Celiz, Peewee Demonteverde, Ahmit Teruel, Tommy Andren, Echarri Brothers, Bong Palo, Rolando Herdon, Leo Bat-og, Arvin Gustilo, and Dongking Sasuman.

Playing in the opening game are Team Bascon-Apir against Team MKU-QGo-AcroCity at 11AM, while Team Azcona-Sapporo and Team Espino face off at 12:15PM with the winners battle it out in title clash at 2:45PM.

The reunion games is free to the public as part of their “giving back” to the communities that supported them all the way and honor the founding officials of the NBA, led by the late Dodong Bascon.* (James G. Toga)
